Check
domain name availability by clicking (please
note, the Manx Registry it is not yet
automated so it is not possible to
check .co.im etc. domains
through this service, Manx domain
enquiries should be performed at www.nic.im).
The
process starts with you choosing and
registering your domain name.
We'll refer to this as yourcompany.co.im.
There are many different
extensions you could use as well as .co.im:
the Manx ones are: .ltd.co.im;
.plc.co.im; .net.im; .org.im.
The UK recognised extensions are .co.uk;
.org.uk; .net.uk;
.me.uk; .uk.com;
.uk.net. Extensions
recognised as worldwide and
nationally unspecific are .com;
.net; .org; .biz;
.info; .cc; .name.
Manx and UK domains have a name
charter, i.e. rules by which you must
adhere to qualify for that
extension. Generally, provided
your company or family name is
similar or related to the domain name
you have picked then you are entitled
to any of the extensions.
In
terms of cost, yourcompany.co.im
domain name is currently £47 per
annum whereas yourcompany.com;
yourcompany.co.uk; etc.
are typically £10 to £25 per annum (prices
correct as of July 2005, including VAT where applicable).
Once you've picked a suitable name
and found that it is available, you
have to register this with a name
registrar and it is these companies
that set their own prices and then
pass your name details onto a central
registry.
Once
you've found an available domain name
that you would like to use, you can
either register it yourself online
with a Name Registrar or, if you're
using our design or hosting services,
we can do it for you.
